This piece depicts Queen Medb riding a white bull into battle. Medb was a ferocious archetypal warrior queen, it is said that it took 39 men to satisfy her sexually, and she had 9 husbands. When one of her husbands acquired a prize bull that made his holdings worth more than hers, which under the laws of the time would mean he was more powerful, she refused to yield to him and stole the bull for herself, plunging the country into civil war.

Her hair and dress are made from oak leaves symbolising resilience, the Ogham rune Dara, or "d" means oak tree, and the letter was often inserted into names to denote strength, as with Medb. All of the lines in Medb's face are straight, showing her strength, but she is styled riding side-saddle in a classically feminine way and the image evokes the abduction of Europa, juxtaposing power and the loss of power. The sun in the piece is a Babybel as Medb was enchanted so that no weapon could harm her, but a sneaky monk eventually killed her by splitting her head with a piece of cheese while she was bathing. The background is the Ulster mountains, Medb's queendom, and is feathered so that she appears more solid.

Responsibly sourced wood is used for the for stretcher bars,  with hanging hardware included for easy installation. Shipped in a protective box.
